IV Moscow Youth International Model Arctic Council (MAC-2019)


MGIMO Arctic Student Research Club invites everyone interested in the Arctic region to participate in the IV Moscow Youth International Model Arctic Council (MAC-2019), which will be held at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (Moscow) on December 9-10, 2019.

The MAC-2019 agenda will be «Sustainable International Shipping and Marine Environment Protection in the Arctic».

In the framework of the event you will be able to:

  • try your hand at solving cases on the Arctic Sustainable Shipping;
    • get a new experience of participating in business games;
    • join the work of the round tables and discuss the problems of sustainable development of the Arctic;
    • attend lectures of invited experts and expand your knowledge of the region;
    • meet colleagues from various countries.

There is also an additional cultural program provided to the participants.

The Council is the primary forum for international cooperation and environmental protection in the Arctic. Its working groups contribute to knowledge creation on the Arctic and its fragile ecosystem.

MAC-2019 participants will be simulating the work of two of the Arctic Council's working groups: PAME and CAFF, as well as that of the AC’s Senior Arctic Officials and Ministers. Participants will receive their assigned roles and readings in the coming weeks.

Ambassador at Large, SAO of Russia delivers a lecture for MAC participants

MGIMO Arctic Student Research Club is honored to announce a lecture of the Ambassador at Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Senior Arctic Official of the Russian Federation Nikolay Korchunov. Lecture topic: “The interests and priorities of the Russian Federation in the Arctic region”.

The event takes place on December 10 at 16:00 in the room 215 of MGIMO-University’s New Building.

 The lecture will be held within the framework of the IV Moscow Youth International Model Arctic Council MAC-2019.

Darwin Museum (MAC Cultural Program)

December 10, Tuesday, at 12:00 in the framework of the cultural program of the IV Moscow Youth International Model Arctic Council MAС-2019, participants and everyone interested are invited to visit the Russian State Darwin Museum!

The meeting will take place at 12 AM (noon) at the Museum's ticket offices, address: Vavilova Street 57, Moscow.

Why the Darwin Museum?

The Museum currently hosts two thematic exhibitions dedicated to the Arctic and Antarctic: a photo exhibition: "Song of the Cold" and a large-scale exhibition about the wildlife of Antarctica "Life Among Snow and Ice".
